The Following Study Article Is Composed From Preliminary Study Notes As I Progressively Step Through A Biblical Word Study On “The Cornerstone”. All References Are To The KJV.
A wife is a female who is joined together with a husband who is a male See Gen 2:21-24 Matt 19:3-6 ; Mar. 10:6-8 . A wife is a woman, that which was taken from a rib of a man , made by the Lord God, and then brought by the Lord God to the man, as bone of his bones and flesh of his flesh . See Gen 2: 21-24 ; Jge 14:3 ; 1 Cor. 7:2. A wife, a woman , is not ashamed ( i.e disappointed , put to confusion or deficiency ) in being naked in front of her husband, a man . See Gen 2:21-24. A wife has a husband who is not ashamed in being naked in front of her. See Gen 2:21-24.
A wife shall be cleaved unto by a man after he leaves his father and mother , so they two shall be one flesh. See Gen 2:21-24 Matt 19:3-6; Mark 10:6-8 ; Eph. 5:31. A wife is joined together with a husband as one flesh by the ordination of God in the beginning . See Gen 2:21-24 ; Matt 19:3-6, Mar 10:6-8.
A wife is to be in relationship together with her husband as the church body is in relationship together with Christ. See Eph. 5:22-32. A wife is headed by her husband, just as the church is headed by and is subject to Christ : the Saviour of the body . See Eph. 5:22-24.
A wife has a duty of marriage . See Ex 21:10. A wife is the companion of the husband’s covenant with her . See Mal 2:14.
A wife is not to have power over her own body as her body is also the husband’s body . See 1 Cor 7-4. A wife is not to defraud her husband in his power over her body , except by mutual consent to give each other to fasting and prayer , and then come together again, so that Satan may not tempt either one of them for their incontinency (i.e lack of control ) See 1 Cor 7: 2-5. A wife’s nakedness is her husband’s nakedness. See Lev 18:8 ,14; Lev 20:11,20. A wife’s skirt is her husband’s skirt See Deut 22:30; 27:30. A wife is to be allowed to touch and have her own husband in his due benevolence in order to avoid fornication . See 1 Cor 7:2-3
A wife submits herself and is subject to her husband in every thing . See Eph 5:22, 24 ; 1 Peter 3:1, 5 ; Col 3:18. A wife is to see that she reverence her husband . See Eph 5:33. A wife shall have trouble in the flesh with her husband . See 1 Cor 7: 28. A wife is to care for worldly things in how she may please her husband See 1 Cor 7:34. A wife is to adorn herself in her trust of God by being in subjection to her husband See 1 Peter 3:5-6. A wife is to have the adorning (i.e orderly arrangement) of an inward adorning of the hidden man of the heart , the ornament of a incorruptible meek and quiet spirit , which is of great price in the sight of God ; not an outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel See 1 Peter 3: 1 -4. A wife who is married to a deacon ( i.e servant or minister) in the church must be grave, not a slanderer, sober, and faithful in all things. See 1 Ti 3:11
A wife is to be loved by her husband even as himself See Col. 3:19; Eph. 5:33 ; A wife is to have a husband who is not bitter against her See Col 3:19; A wife is to be loved by her husband as if she were his own body, as in loving her thusly he loves himself, for no man hates his own flesh; but nourisheth and cherisheth it, even as the Lord the Church: for we are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones See Eph. 5:28–30, 33. A wife is to be loved by her husband as Christ loved the Church , giving himself for it , that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish. See Eph 5:25-27. A wife is to be honoured by her husband as unto the weaker (i.e. of lesser strength ) vessel , dwelling with her according to knowledge and as being heirs together of the grace of life . See 1 Peter 3:7.
A wife is not to put away her husband, but if she does depart, she is to remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband See 1 Co 7:10, 11 ; a wife is an adulterer if she puts away her husband and marries another, except for the cause of fornication See Matt 5:32; 19:4-6, 9; Luke 16:18; 1 Co 7:13 , 14 , 16. ; and the wife is the one who causes her husband to commit adultery if she puts away her husband, except for the cause of fornication . See Matt 5:32; 19:4-6, 9 ; 1 Co 7:13 , 14 , 16.
A wife is not to depart from an unbelieving husband if he is pleased to dwell with her , for the unsanctified husband is sanctified by the believing wife, just as the unsanctified wife is sanctified by a believing husband, in order that the unbelieving spouse might become saved and in order that their children might become clean and holy See 1 Co 7:13 , 14 , 16.; A wife is not to be put away by a believing husband if she is not a believer , as long as she is pleased to dwell with him. See 1 Cor 7:12 . A wife is not under bondage to an unbelieving husband that departs from her, for God has called us to peace . See 1 Cor 7:15
A wife is to win a husband who is disobedient to the word by her conversation (i.e manner of living ) – in order that the husband beholds her chaste conversation coupled with fear See 1 Peter 1:3: 1.
A wife is bound by the law as long as her husband lives ; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to be married to whom she will; only in the Lord. See 1 Cor 7:39.
A wife is no longer married to her husband upon her death , but she rather is as the angels in heaven See Mark 12:25
