WHAT IS THE SHEPHERD’S FOLD ?

The Following Study Article Is Composed From Preliminary Study Notes As I Progressively Step Through A Biblical Word Study On “The Cornerstone”. All References Are To The KJV.

The shepherd’s fold is a pasture (see Ezek 34:14) ; it is a habitation or dwelling place made by shepherds for their flocks ( see Is 13:20, Hab 3:17) ; it is a place for a shepherd’s flock to lie down ( see Is 65:10) ; it is a place for the people that have sought the Lord to lie down and rest ( Is 65:10, John 10:16 ) ; it is a place of the assembling or the gathering together of all Jacob , the remnant of Israel ( see Mic 2:12;John 10:16); it is to be one fold ( see John 10:16 ) ;   it is to be under one Shepherd ( see John 10:16) ; it is upon the high mountains of Israel (see Ezek 34:14); and it has an entrance door ( see John 10:1 ) .

Strong’s “Fold” from the Hebrew :

râbats, raw-bats’; a primitive root; to crouch (on all four legs folded, like a recumbent animal); by implication, to recline, repose, brood, lurk, imbed:—crouch (down), fall down, make a fold, lay, (cause to, make to) lie (down), make to rest, sit.

nâveh, naw-veh’; or (feminine) נָוָה nâvâh;(adjectively) at home; hence (by implication of satisfaction) lovely; also (noun) a home, of God (temple), men (residence), flocks (pasture), or wild animals (den):—comely, dwelling (place), fold, habitation, pleasant place, sheepcote, stable, tarried.

miklâʼâh, mik-law-aw’; or מִכְלָה miklâh; a pen (for flocks):—(sheep-)fold.

dôber, do’-ber; a pasture (from its arrangement of the flock):—fold, manner.

αὐλή aulḗ, ow-lay’; a yard (as open to the wind); by implication, a mansion:—court, (sheep-)fold, hall, palace.

ποίμνη poímnē, poym’-nay; a flock (literally or figuratively):—flock, fold.
