WHAT IS OUR MINISTRY ?

The Following Study Article Is Composed From Preliminary Study Notes As I Progressively Step Through A Biblical Word Study On “The Cornerstone”. All References Are To The KJV.

Our ministry is to be as an ambassador for Christ ( see 2 Cor 5:20) ; it is God’s work brought about through us ( see Acts 21:19 ) ; and it involves the word of reconciliation: that God was in Christ , reconciling the world unto himself , not imputing their trespasses to them ( see 2 Cor 5:18).

Our ministry is to be offered ( see 2 Ti 4:6) ; it is to present our bodies as a living, holy and acceptable sacrifice unto God ( see Rom. 12:1) ;  it is to perfect our holiness in the fear of God ( see 2 Cor 7:1); it is to act with the understanding that we are the temple of the living God ( see 2 Cor 6 :16) ;  it is to cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and the spirit ( see 2 Cor 7:1); it is not to be conformed to this world ( see Rom 12:2);  and it is to come out and be separate from being unequally yoked together with unbelievers ( see 2 Cor 6 :14,16,17).

Our ministry is to give no offence in anything, that the ministry of God not be blamed ( see 2 Cor 6:3) ; it is to approve ourselves as ministers of God in all things , in much patience, in afflictions, in necessities, in distresses, in stripes, in imprisonments, in tumults, in labours, in watchings, in fastings; by pureness, by knowledge, by long suffering, by kindness, by the Holy Ghost, by love unfeigned, by the word of truth, by the power of God , by the armour of righteousness on the right hand and on the left , by honour and dishonour , by evil report and good report : as deceivers, and yet true; as unknown , and yet well known; as dying, and behold, we live; as chastened, and not killed; as sorrowful, yet always rejoicing; as poor, yet making many rich ; as having nothing, yet possessing all things  ( see 2 Cor 6:4-10) .

Our ministry is to be transformed by the renewing of our minds in order to prove the good acceptable and pleasing will of God ( see Rom 12:2); it is to be watchful in everything ( see 2 Ti 4:5); it is to think soberly of ourselves and not more highly than we ought to think, in accord with the measure of faith that God has given to each one of us ( see Rom 12:3) ; it is to understand that there are many members in one body in Christ and that not all of the members have the same office ( see Rom 12:3-7) ; and it is to understand that the many members in Christ’s body have gifts differing according to the grace given to us ( see Rom. 12:4-7).

Our ministry is our own particular service burden in the tabernacle of the congregation ( see Numbers 4:5,15,16,22 ,24,27,28,29,33,47);  it is our own particular course of service or office received of the Lord Jesus ( see Acts 20:24, Col 4:17; 2 Ti 4:6)  ; it is something that we are placed into by Christ Jesus our Lord ( see 1 Ti 1:12) ; it is enabled by Christ Jesus our Lord ( see 1 Ti 1:12) ; it is a result of Christ Jesus our Lord counting us faithful ( see 1 Ti 1:12);  and it is our reasonable service unto God ( see Rom 12:1).

Our ministry should be heeded and fulfilled ( see Col 4:17 ) ; it is to make full proof of our ministry ( see 2 Ti 4:5) ; it is to do the work of our ministry ( see 2 Ti 4:5) ; and it is to finish our own particular course of service or office ( see 2 Ti 4:6 ).

Our ministry is to endure afflictions ( see 2 Ti 4:5 ) ; it is to fight the good fight (see 2 Ti 4:6); and it is to keep the faith ( see 2 Tim 4:6).
