The Following Study Article Is Composed From Preliminary Study Notes As I Progressively Step Through A Biblical Word Study On “The Cornerstone”. All References Are To The KJV.
The body of Christ is one body ( see Eph. 4:4); it is one body with many members ( see Eph. 4:4 ; 1 Co 12:12 , 14, 20) ; and it is the body of those of the same body in Christ ( see Eph 3:6).
It is the body of people in fellowship with Christ ( see Eph. 2:12) ; it is the body of those with God in the world through the blood of Christ’s cross ( see Eph 2:12, 16, 18, 19) ; it is the body of those who have access by one Spirit unto the Father through the blood of Christ’s cross ( see Eph 2:11-13, 16, 18, 19) ; it is the body of those whom God has quickened together with Christ ; having forgiven them of all their trespasses ( see Col 2:13) ; it is the body of those within whom the Holy Ghost is a witness to the Lord’s placing and writing of His laws within their hearts and minds ( see Hebrews 10: 15, 16 ) ; it is the body of those who are to draw near to God with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having their hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience and their bodies washed with pure water ( see Heb 10:21,22 ) ; it is the body of those to whom God has made manifest and known the mystery which has been hid from ages and generations; which is Christ in you, the hope of glory ( see Col 1 :26,27 ); it is the body of those who have been healed by Christ’s stripes ( see 1 Peter 2:24 ) ; and it is the body of those who were as sheep going astray, but are now returned unto Christ, the Shepherd and Bishop of their souls ( see 1 Peter 2:21, 25) .
The body of Christ is the body of those who have boldness to enter into the holiest by a new and living way through the veil , which He has consecrated for them, that is, by the flesh and blood of Jesus ( see Heb 10:19, 20 ) ; it is the body of those who have been redeemed and forgiven their sins by the blood of the Son of God ( see Col 1:14) ; it is the body of those who are reconciled to God the Father through the peace made though the blood of the cross of the Son of God ( see Col l:20,21) ; it is the body of those whose sins and iniquities the Lord remembers no more ( see Heb 10:17) ; it is the body those who have had the handwriting of ordinances against them blotted out and taken away by God, who nailed them to the cross of Christ ( see Col 2 :14 ); it is the body of those who are sanctified by the will of God through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once and for all ( see Heb 10:10) ; it is the body of the sanctified people who by the one offering of Jesus Christ have been perfected forever ( see Heb 10:14) ; and it is the body of those who have remission of their sins and iniquities, with no more need of any offering for sin ( see Heb 10:18).
The body of Christ is the body by which the called of Jesus Christ are become dead to the law so that they should both be married to Him who is raised from the dead and bring forth fruit unto God ( see Rom 7:4); it is the body of those whose sins have been borne in Christ’s own body on the tree that they , being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness ( see 1 Peter 2:24) ; and it is the body of those who have been buried with Christ in baptism and risen with Christ through the faith of the operation of God, who has raised Christ from the dead ( see Col 2 :12) .
The body of Christ is the body of those who are holy and unblameable and unreprovable in His sight, through a grounded and settled faith in the hope of the gospel ( see Col 1;23 ); it is the body of the partakers of God’s promise by the gospel ( see Eph 3:6) ; it is the body of those familiar with the covenants of promise through the blood of Christ’s cross ( see Eph 2:12,13, 16, 18, 19 ); and it is the body of those having hope through the blood of Christ’s cross ( see Eph 2 :12, 16,18,19).
It is the body of members who, when eating together , are to remember Christ’s sacrifice of his body for the new testament and for the remission of the sins of many, by thankfully eating broken pieces of bread in symbolic remembrance of such sacrifice ( see Matt. 26,26,28 ; Mark 14:22,24; Luke 22:18,20) ; and it is the body of those who are not to be judged in meat, or in drink , or in respect of a holy day , or of the new moon , or in keeping of the Sabbath days , which are a shadow of things to come, as the body is of Christ ( see Col 2:16,17 ).
The body of Christ is the body comprised of those who have been circumcised with the circumcision made without hands , in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ ( see Col 2:11 ) ; it is the body of the fellow citizens of the commonwealth of spiritual Israel through the blood of Christ’s cross ( see Eph 2 :11-13, 16, 18, 19 ) ; it is the body of the fellow citizens of the saints through the blood of Christ’s cross ( see Eph 2:11-13, 16, 18, 19); it is the body of the saints in Christ ( see Col 1:2 ,26); it is the body of the partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light ( see Col 1:12 ) ; it is the body of fellow citizenry built together in Christ for a habitation of God through the Spirit ( see Eph 3:6 ) ; it is the body of the fellow citizens of the household of God through the blood of Christ’s cross ( see Eph 2:11-13, 16, 18, 19) ; it is the body of the fellow heirs in Christ ( see Eph 3:6) ; and it is the body of the faithful brethren in Christ ( see Col. 1:12).
The body of Christ is the body built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ being the chief corner stone ( see Eph 2:19, 20,21) ; it is the body fitly framed together in Christ ( see Eph 2:21) ; it is the body formed through the baptism of the members by one Spirit and the making of the membership to drink into one Spirit ( see 1 Co 12:13 ) ; it is the body that grows unto an holy temple in the Lord ( see Eph 2:19-21) ; it is the body of those who have Jesus Christ as High Priest over the house of God ( see Heb 10:10, 21) ; it is the body that has Christ as its Saviour ( see Eph 5:23 ) ; it is the body that is subject unto Christ ( see Eph 5:24) ; it is the body headed by the Son of God ( see Col 1:18 ): it is the body that has Christ as its head ( see Eph 5:23) ; it is the body that is headed in all things by Christ ( see Eph 1 :22) ; it is the body comprised of those who are complete in Christ, the head of all principality and power ( see Col 2:10) ; it is the body of those who hold the Head , from which all the body by joints and bands having nourishment ministered , and knit together, increases with the increase of God ( see Col 2:19 ); and it is the body that is to be edified by apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers , speaking the truth in love , until it eventually comes into the unity of the faith and the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man , unto the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ, which is the head : until it is no more comprised of children tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness ( see Eph 4;7, 8, 11, 12 , 13, 14, 15; Col 1:28 ).
The body of Christ is a body with a diversity of gifts , but the same Spirit ( see 1 Co 12:4); it is a body with differences of administrations , but the same Lord ( see 1 Co 12 :5) ; it is a body with diversities of operations , but the same God which works all in all ( see 1 Co 12:6 ) ; and it is a body through which all diversities and differences in gifts , administrations , operations and manifestations of the Spirit are works of that Spirit that are divided to each member of the body as He wills ( see 1 Cor 12:4-11 ) .
It is a body whose particular members have each been set in the body by God as it has pleased Him ( see 1 Co 12:18-19, 27) ; it is body comprised of many men and women who are bodily members one of another, each having gifts and offices differing according to the grace given to each by God ( see Luke 17 :34 -37 ; Rom 12:4-6 ) ; it is a body comprised of individuals having different gifts of the Spirit varying among the gifts of the word of wisdom, the word of knowledge, faith, healing, the working of miracles, prophecy, the discerning of spirits , diverse kinds of tongues, the interpretation of tongues, ministry, teaching, exhortation , giving , ruling , and mercy ( see 1 Cor 12:8-10; Rom 12:6-9) ; it is a body to be edified by each member and every member by the grace given to each according to the measure of the gift of Christ ( see Eph 4:7, 8, 12) ; it is a body to be fitly joined together and compacted from Christ by that which every joint supplies according to the effectual working of every part , making increase of the body unto the edifying of itself in love ( see Eph 4:16) ; and it is a body within which each member is given the manifestation of the Spirit in order to profit withal ( see 1 Co 12:7).
The body of Christ is a body whose seemingly feeble members are necessary ( see 1 Co 12 22) ; it is a body that bestows more abundant honor on its members that seem to be less honorable , giving its uncomely parts more abundant comeliness ( see 1 Cor 12:23) ; it is a body that God has tempered together , having given more abundant honor to that part which lacked ( see 1 Co 12:24) ; it is a body that should have no schism within it , but that the members should have the same care of one another ( see 1 Co 12 :25 ) ; it is a body to be of the same mind toward one another, not minding high things, but condescending to men of low estate ( see Rom 12:16) ; and it a body of those called in one body to let the peace of God rule in their hearts ( see Col 3:15 ).
The body of Christ is a body that rejoices with one member when it is honored ( see 1 Co 12 :26) ; it is a body that suffers with one member when it suffers ( see 1 Co 12 : 26 ) ; it is a body to be of kind affection towards one another in brotherly love ; in honor preferring one another ( see Rom 12:10) ; it is a body of those called by God to put on bowels of mercies , kindness , humbleness of mind , meekness , long suffering and thankfulness ( see Col 3:12, 15) ; and it is a body that is to distribute to the necessity of the saints ( see Rom 12 :13).
It is a body of the holy and beloved elect of God ( see Col 3:12) ; it is a body that is loved by Christ ( see Eph 4:25) ; it is a body that has been self sacrificed for by Christ, that He might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word and present it to Himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish ( see Eph 5:25-27) ; it is a body that is nourished and cherished by Christ ( see Eph 5:29) ; and it is Christ’s flesh and bones ( see Eph 5:30).
The body of Christ is the Kingdom of Jesus Christ, God’s dear Son ( see Col 1:13 ); and it is the Church ( see Eph 1:, 22,23 5:23 ; Col. 1:18).
