WHAT IS PEACE ?

The Following Study Article Is Composed From Preliminary Study Notes As I Progressively Step Through A Biblical Word Study On “The Cornerstone”. All References Are To The KJV.

Peace is to fear not ( see Gen 43:23 , Judg 6:23 , Dan 10:19, Jer 30:5 ) ;it is to tremble not ( see Jer 30:5 ) ; it is a heart that is not troubled ( see John 14:27 ) ; it is a heart that is not afraid ( see John 14:27) ; it is to not to be afraid of anyone ( see Lev 26:3,6 ); it is the absence of vexation ( see 2 Chr 15:15); and it is the opposite of confusion ( see 1 Cor 14:33) .

Peace is to dwell safely by the provision of the LORD ( see Ezek 34:25, Ps 4 :8 , 1 Th. 5:3 ) ; it is to rest in your bed ( see Is 57:2 ) ; it is to lay down and sleep by the provision of the LORD ( see Ezek 34 :25, Ps 4:8; Lev 26:3.6); it is quietness ( see 1 Chron 22:9) ; it is quietness and assurance for ever ( see Is 32:17) ; and it is a result of God helping us ( see 1 Chron 12 :18).

Peace is good health ( see Jer 8:15, Jer 14:19  ) ; it is healing ( see Is 57:19) ; it is health and cure  ( see Jer 33:6) ; it is life ( see Rom 8:6 ) ; it is strength ( see Ps 29:11, Is 33:7); it is pleasantness ( see Prov 3:17) ; it is prosperity ( see Ps 122:7, Lam 3:17); it is to be warmed and filled (see James 2:16); and it is extended by the Lord like a river, like a flowing stream ( see Is 66:12 ) .

Peace is the absence of hurt  (see 1 Sam 20:21 ) ; it is not to be wounded by others ( see Oba 1:7); it is not to be deceived and prevailed against by others  ( see Oba 1:7) ;  it is the opposite of division ( see Luke 12:51);  it is the opposite of destruction ( see Ezek 7:25, 1 Th 5:3) ; it is the opposite of having the sword ( see Jer 4:10; Jer 12:12, Jer 14:13, Matt 10:34 , Rev 6:4 ); it is to cut off the chariot the horse and battle bow from Ephraim and Jerusalem ( see Zec 9:10) ; it is to have no blood returning upon the head of a person or his seed or house ( see 1 Kings 2:33) ; and it is to rest from all enemies round about you ( see 1 Chron 22:9) .

Peace is to those taught of the Lord ( see Is 54:13); it is the word of the Lord in your days  ( see 2 Kings 20:19)  ; it is to be familiar with the covenants of promise ( see Eph 2:12 );  it is possessed in abundance by those who love the law of the Lord ( see Ps 119:165 ) ; it is a product of remembering God’s law and commandments (see Prov 3:2); it is to be spiritually minded rather than carnally minded (see Romans 8:6 ); and it is kept in perfection by he whose mind is stayed upon the Lord ( see Is 26:3).

Peace is kept by he that trusts in the Lord ( see Is 26:3);  it is an inheritance of the meek ( see Ps 37:11);  it is a way (see Rom 3:17, Is 59:8); it is to go in the way that is before the Lord ( see Judges 18 :5,6) ; it is to hearken unto God’s commands ( see Isaiah 48:18); it is to walk in equity ( see Mal 2:6) ; it is the result of walking in uprightness (see Is 57:2) ; it is the result of walking in ways that please the Lord ( see Prov. 16:7) ; it is to walk not after the imagination of your own heart ( see Deut 29:19 , Jer 23:17, Lev 26: 3,6); it is given to those who walk, keep and do the statutes and commandments of the Lord God ( see Lev 26:3,6) ; and it is to do the things learned, received , heard and seen in the apostle Paul ( see Phil 4:9).

Peace is brought through righteousness ( see Ps 72:3) ; it is the effect of righteousness ( see Is 32 :17);   it is the fruit of righteousness ( see James 3:18 )  ; it is met together with righteousness  ( see Heb 7:2, Psalm 85:10); it is good ( see 2 Kings 20:19, Jer 8:15 ); it is rendered to everyone who works good ( see Rom 2:10) ;  it is the antithesis of evil ( see Is 45:7, Jer 29:11); it is the opposite of darkness and the shadow of death ( see Luke 1:79) ; and it is not possessed by the wicked ( see Is 48:22, Is 57:21).

Peace is to have judgment in your goings (see Is 59:8) ; it is to avoid crooked paths ( see Is 59:8, Ps 125:5); it is not to turn to folly ( see Ps 85:8); and it is to depart from evil and do good ( see Ps 34 :14, 1 Peter 3:11 ) .

Peace is together with truth ( see 2 Kings 20:19, Is 39:8, Zec 8:19, Jer 33:6); it is to those who love the truth ( see Zec 8:19) ; and it is to have the law of truth in your mouth ( see Mal 2:6) .

Peace is a result of God’s presence with us ( see 2 Th 3:16,1 Sam 20:13 ); it is to be with Christ ( see Eph 2:12,14); it is to be with God in the world ( see Eph 2:12);  it is God’s sanctuary in our everlasting midst ( see Ezek 37:26);  it is to have God’s countenance lifted upon us (see Numbers 6:26); it is to be brought near to God through the blood of Christ ( see Eph 2:13 );  and it is to bring everything , by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, to God ( see Phil 4:6 ) .

Peace is joy in one’s heart  (see Prov 12:20) ; it is to have hope ( see Eph 2:12);  it is together with joy and hope to the believer through the power of the Holy Ghost ( see Rom 15:13) ;  it is together with righteousness and joy in the Holy Ghost ( see Rom 14:17); it is joy, gladness and cheerfulness to the house of Judah (see Zec 8:19 ); it keeps our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus (see  Phl 4:7) ; and it is the fruit of the Holy Spirit ( see Gal 5:22).

Peace is to be sanctified wholly by God ( see 1 Th 5:23) ; it is to be without spot and blameless ( see 2 Peter 3:14); it is to have our whole spirit and soul preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ ( see 1 Th 5:23, 2 Peter 3:14 ); it is the absence of bitterness in our souls ( see Is 38:17 );  it is the end or future of the perfect, upright man ( see Ps 37:37); it is a result of the Lord casting all my sins behind His back (see Is 38:17 ); and it is a result of the soul’s deliverance from the pit of corruption through the love of the Lord ( see Is 38:17).

Peace is good tidings ( see Is 52:7, Nah 1:15 ); it is glad tidings of good things ( see Rom 10:15) ;  it is salvation ( see Is 52:7 ) ;  it is the gospel ( see Rom 10:15 , Eph 6:15 ) ; and it is that Jesus has overcome the world ( see John 16:33).

Peace is authored by God to his saints ( see 1 Cor 14:33); it is given by the Lord and Prince of peace himself ( see  2 Th 3:16, Is 9:6 ) ; it is established for us by the Lord ( see Is 26:12 );   it is ordered and established with judgment and with justice by the zeal of Lord of Hosts  ( see Is 9:7) ; it is God’s loving kindness and mercy ( see Jer 16:5); and it passes all understanding ( see Phl 4:7).

Peace is a grace that comes to us from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour ( see Tit 1:4, 1 Tim 1:2, Rom 1:7 , 1 Cor 1:3 , 2 Cor 1:2, Gal 1:3, Eph 1:2, Phil 1:2, Col 1:2 , 1 Th 1:1, 2 Th 1:2, 2 Tim 1:2 , Phm 1:3 ) ; it is a grace unto the elect multiplied through the sanctification of the Spirit  ( see 1 Peter 1:2 ); it is a grace multiplied through one’s knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord  ( see 2 Peter 1:2 ); and it is a grace from him which is , and which was , and which is to come  ( see Rev 1:4 ) .

Peace is by or through Jesus Christ, The Lord of All ( see Acts 10:36, Eph. 2:14); it is through the blood of Christ Jesus (see Eph 2:14) ; it is made through the blood of His cross, reconciling believers to the Father who were once alienated and enemies of the Father in their minds through wicked works  ( see Col 1:20-22) ; it is from the healing stripes of the Lord ( see Is 53:5) ;  it is through the chastisement that was placed on Christ instead of us ( see Is 53:5);  and it is to have the middle wall of partition or enmity between us and the law of commandments contained in ordinances broken down and abolished ( see Eph 2:14,15). 

Peace is a covenant given to the one who fears the Lord of Hosts and His name ( see Mal 2:5 ); it is a covenant of everlasting priesthood ( see Num 25:12,13); and it is a covenant with the Lord that shall not be removed ( see Ezek 34:25 , Ezek 37:26, Isaiah 54:10).

Peace is to be among us as brethren ( see 1 Th 5:13); it is a bonding or unifying force among Spirit filled believers ( see Eph 4:3); it is to be allowed to rule in the hearts of believers and in the one body of believers ( see Col 3:15) ;  it is to greet one another with a kiss of charity ( see 1 Peter 5:14 ) ; it is to not move your tongue against your fellow believer ( see Jos 10:21) ;   and it is to follow after the things of which one may edify another ( see Rom 14:19) .

Peace is to be followed by believers with all men ( see Heb 12:14 ) ; it is not to be set against your neighbor (see Zec 8:10) ; it is the absence of mischief in the heart towards our neighbors ( see Ps 28:3) ; it is to speak truth to your neighbor ( see  Zec 8:16); it is to execute the judgement of truth in your gates (see Zec 8:16) ;  it is good will toward men (see Luke 2:14 ); and it is to share and eat bread with other men ( see Oba 1:7).

Peace is to be members of the commonwealth of Israel ( see Eph. 2:12) ; it is the throne of David ( see Is 9:7) ; it is thy God reigning in Zion ( see Is 52:7 ); it is the government of the Lord of Hosts ( see Is 9:7) ; it is the Kingdom of God ( see Rom 14:17) ; and it is the kingdom of the Lord of Hosts ( see Is 9:7) .

Peace is possessed by being justified by faith in our Lord Jesus Christ ( see Rom 5:1); it is something that we are called to by God (see 1 Cor 7:15).
